Kawhi Leonard Is The Next-Generation Defensive Stopper
Kawhi Leonard is a Small Forward. But he's quick to enough to play & effectively guard Shooting Guards & Point Guards. However, I don't see him being very proficient on the offensive end as a SG, or a SF. He'll be able to create his own shot from time to time. But his best abilities are best used on the defensive end.
He's one of the best defensive players in this years draft. In the 2010-2011 season at San Diego State he averaged 15.5 PPG, 10.6 rebounds, & 1.4 SPG. He helped lead SDSU to a 34-3 record & helped lead them to the sweet 16 where they lost to the eventual champion Connecticut Huskies.
Leonard is only 6'6", but he has a 7'3" wing span & a 8'10" standing reach. His hands are insanely huge for a player who is only 6'6". He has the 2nd largest hands in the draft with a width of 11.3" & and length of 9.8". His large hands & long arms will benefit him greatly on the defensive and offensive glass. He has high energy and a strong work ethic. One thing i can see limiting him is his vertical leaping ability. He'll need to improve that dramatically.
With his long arms, He'll be able to knock the ball away and average a couple steals per game. I don't see him turning into a super-star. But i think he will definitely be a star on a good team. If he can improve his vertical jumping ability, this guy could be a huge threat for players such as Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Wade, & many other prolific NBA Scorers.
Leonard is the next-gen defensive stopper who can also get his own shot when he needs to and average 10-11 rebounds a game. Watch out for Kawhi Leonard because he is a diamond in the rough.
Projected Development: 2-3 years, Starter/Role Player, 14 PPG, 11 RPG, 1.9 SPG, 1.0 BPG. But most of his value won't show up on the scoreboard.
